Gun Hill and Its Lion

This historical signal station was built in 1818 as a look out point for approaching ships and a stop in a line of communication throughout the island which would signal the approach of enemy and cargo vessels.
Today this site offers arguably the most magnificent view of Barbados, making it a favourite for events and weddings specifically. Explore the signal tower and the interesting military memorabilia or go downhill to see the famous Gun Hill Lion which was carved out of a single piece of stone by an officer in 1868. This scene offers an opportunity for great history and photo ops!
